Project Solid Ground

Project Solid ground is a short-term intervention program that is designed to support young people who
have experiences of family conflict or violence. The program utilises strengths-based and person-centred
practicesthrough mentoring and casework and aims to work holistically with young people and families to
foster safe and supportive environments.

Solid ground runs once-weekly for the duration of a semester (20 weeks). During program, participants engage in social and emotional learning about healthy relationships and managing emotions. Participants are also
taken on daily adventures throughout Canberra and the surrounds, such as: kayaking, bike riding,
bush walking, rock climbing or abseiling, and more.

Program outcomes include:

Increased emotional awareness and management

Informed changes in relationship attitudes and beliefs

An understanding of safe and respectful relationships

Stronger connections to community

A change in unhealthy attitudes of gender-based biases


This program is funded by the ACT Government.





Referrals

Referrals are welcome for young people of any gender aged 11-18 in the Canberra Region who have experiences of family conflict or family, domestic, and sexual violence. Families must consent to the referral.
