PCYC was broken into over the weekend!
Two of our go-karts were stolen.
This could mean that our RYSK program has to be shut down.
We are very sad about this, and we would really like to have our go-karts back. If you know anything, please let us know. (click on the PCYC Sad Face to leave a comment on Facebook).

50th Anniversary year of Jishukan in Australia
2011 represents the 50th Anniversary year of Jishukan in Australia, and also the 50th Anniversary year of Jishukan in Canberra. During nearly all of that time Jishukan has been at Canberra PCYCs.
To celebrate the milestone, two Japanese masters of Jishukan, Shihan Okamoto and Shihan Watanabe, visited Australia in October 2011. Erindale PCYC Jishukan dojo was delighted to welcome the visitors to the dojo on the evening of Monday, 24 October 2011. The Japanese Shihans watched and participated in the training of the junior and senior classes. They assisted individual students with their techniques and gave encouragement and inspiration to all. They also presented certificates to those who had recently graded to higher belt levels.

Congratulations to Clinton Parker, the recipient of the Canberra Police Community Youth Club ‘Top Coach” award.
The award is to acknowledge members of our community that mentor coach our youth and stand out above the rest.
Clinton has coached young people in our community for a number of years and through a range of sports. He not only teaches the skills associated with a given sport, but also teaches principles such as fair play and respect. Not one young person in one of Clinton’s teams is ever disadvantaged or left out. Clinton encourages participation, belonging and mentoring. Clinton’s philosophy is “everyone gets to play”.
Clinton came to the attention of the PCYC as a “TOP COACH” of the Under 14s coach for Eagles baseball last year. He was coaching a team of under 14s with varied abilities. Clinton created an environment where all the participants felt they belonged and took ownership of their team. The team won the grand final not because they were the best players but because they had learnt to be the best team. When Clinton explains his “everyone gets to play” philosophy he relates a story of coaching a soccer team that had a blind goalie. This man is the embodiment of social inclusion but really humble all wrapped into one.
A special thanks to Minister Joy Burch MLA for presenting the award on our behalf.
